The view is Longchen Rabjam, “Infinite Great Expanse”.

The meditation is Khyentse Odzer, “Light Rays of Wisdom and Love”.

For the one wholeheartedly practicing in this way,

There is no doubt of attaining Buddha-hood in a single life.

But even if one does not, there is still happiness to be enjoyed—a lala!

Ê2Ý#-#<ß0-+ë,-bÜ-#,+-¸¥-/Eè# Ê+$-ýë-9$-<è0<-Të+-+è-/5#

Ê0Ü-‡ë-0Ü-/Z¨-F0-Dë#-0è+Ê Ê$$-:-d0-#,<-Të+-+è7Ü-$$-Ë

Now to use the actual three vital points.

First, position your mind in a relaxed state.

Without elaboration or concentration, without dualistic thought.

While in this state, remain evenly relaxed.

Ë*ë:-e³$-vë-Eè#-.ªü-%Ü#-{/Ê Êl#-:-$9-*ß$->è-0-=ëÊ

Ê%Ü-8$-0-8Ü,-=+-+è-/Ê Ê=+-+è-/-:-6$-*:-:èÊ

Suddenly exclaim a thought-shattering Phat!

Forcefully and abruptly sharp—E-maho!

There remains nothing other then total blankness.

A blankness which is utterly penetrating.

Ê6$-0-*:-e³$-/Bë+-¸¥-0è+Ê Ê&ë<-U¨7Ü-9Ü#-ý-$ë<-6ß$<-;Ü#

Ê$ë-9$-*ë#-·â-‡+-ý-Yè-#,+-+$-ýë7ëÊÊ

A total openness that is indescribable.

One should recognize to be Dharmakaya, intrinsic awareness.

This direct recognition of one’s nature, is the first vital point.

Ê+è-,<-7në-70-#,<-`$-9ß$-Ê Êhë-70-&#<-<0-þÜ+-+0-Z¨#

ʸ¥<-+$-#,<-U/<-*0<-%+-¸¥Ê Ê$ë-;è<-&ë<-U¨-$ë<-/6ß$-:Ê

After, whether you are having thought or calm,

Whether there is anger, desire, happiness or sorrow,

At all times and on all occasions,

Hold to the recognition of Dharmakaya.

Let the clear lights of the son unite with the mother.

Settle into a state of indescribable awarness.

Again and again shatter calmness, bliss, clarity and any thoughts.

Allow the syllable of knowledge and method adventitious descend.

Ê0(0-#5#-Bè<-*ë/-*-++-0è+Ê Ê*ß,-+$-*ß,-020<-+eè-/-0è+Ê

Ê+eè9-0è+-$$-¸¥-{,-¸¥-#,<Ê Ê7ë,-`$-/D,-ý-0-*ë/-/9Ê

There will be no difference between meditation and post-meditation.

No distinctions between sessions and breaks.

Remain continuously in the state of inseparability.

However, if one has not attained stability,

Ê7¸¥-73Ý-\$-,<-Vë0-ý-#%è<Ê Ê0(0-#5#-*ß,-¸¥-/%+-:-eÊ

ʸ¥<-+$-#,<-U/<-*0<-%+-¸¥Ê Ê&ë<-U¨-#%Ü#-ýë7Ü-8ë-:$<-/þ$-Ê

It is essential to abandon worldly entertainments, and cultivate meditation.

Divide your practice into sessions .

At all time and at all occasion,

Maintain the single continuity of Dharmakaya.

Ê+è-:<-#5,-0è+-"ë-*#-/%+Ê Ê*#-#%Ü#-*ë#-·â-/%+-ý-Yè-#,+-#(Ü<-ý7ëÊÊ

Determine there to be nothing other than this,

And directly discover this one state, to be the second vital point.

Ê+è-2é-&#<-Z$-+#7-Z¨#-+$-Ê Êuë-/ß9-F0-Dë#-0-:ß<-ýÊ

Ê$ë-;è<-$$-:-Bè<-0*ß+-0è+Ê Êië:-&7Ü-&ë<-U¨-$ë<-/6ß$-/<Ê

At this time, your desire and aversions, joys and sorrow,

And whatever discursive thoughts passing through,

Leave no traces in the state of recognizing them.

Ê%Ü-;9-9Ü#-Yë$-Bè,-ý7Ü-6<Ê Ê’Ü-7b²-&ë<-U¨-{:-ýë7Ü-I:Ê

By holding the recognition of the Dharmakaya on the side of liberation,

Then like the analogy of drawing on water,

There is unceasing self-occurring self-liberation.

Whatever occurs is fresh food for the empty awareness.

Êië:-:ß#<-a+-ý9-#,+-¸¥-&èÊ Ê7+Ü-0è+-Vë0-ý-7há:-ý7Ü-:0Ê

Whatever is thought is an expression of the dharmakaya king.

Traceless and naturally free– a lala

The way thoughts occur is the same as before,

But the way they are freed is the most special key point.

Ê7+Ü-Q,-0-/Vë0<-&ë<-U¨7Ü-$$-Ê Ê#+è$-ië:-*ë#-·â-/%7-/-Yè-#,+-#<ß0-ý7ëÊ

Ê#,+-#<ß0-Q,-ý7Ü-P-/-:ÊÊ

Without this meditation is but the path of confusion.

Possessing it is the uncultivated state of dharmakaya.

To gain confidence in liberation; that is the third vital point.

Ê0aè,-/Iè-7oè:-/7Ü-Vë0-ý-+$-Ê Ê{:-r<-.Ü-8Ü-.ë+-ý-ië#<Ê

ʸ¥<-#<ß0-{:-/7Ü-5:-/Z¨9-`$-Ê Ê7+Ü-:<-T#-ý7Ü-#+0<-$#-0è+Ê

This view endowed with three vital points, and the meditation of

combined knowledge and compassion,

Is aided by the general action of the sons of the victorious ones.

Even if the victorious ones of the three times were to confer together,

They would have no oral instruction superior to this.

The dharmakaya treasure revealer of awareness-display,

Discovered this as a treasure from the expanse of knowledge.

It is unlike extracts of earth and stone.

It is the testament of Garab Dorje.

It is the heart essence of the three lineages.

It is entrusted with secrecy to heart disciples.

It is the profound meaning and words from the heart.

It is words from the heart, the essential meaning

Do not let the essential meaning fade away.

Do not let the instruction dissipate.
